Big River Grille - Homebrew Contest Party

The winner of our homebrewing contest is a delicious Witbier!!

This beer is too divine not to share. So, we will be featuring it on tap for a limited time...you don't wanna miss your chance to try this mouth-watering beer. 

We will be tapping the winning brew, as well as congratulating our top 3 contestants, on August 14th from 2-4pm!

Witbier - Light in color, medium bodied with a pronounced citrus flavor from coriander and orange peel.

Homebrew Party Review

We swung by for a bit on Saturday to see what the party would be like. It was packed like I've never seen the bar area before. We lucked out with 2 seats at the bar and ordered up the award-winner: Witbier. It was very good, smooth, and mildly hoppy with hints of citrus. We both put back 2 glasses easily - maybe they went down extra easy due to the half-price special during the party!

We enjoyed our fill of the complimentary cheese & fruit offerings but never saw any of those elusive chicken skewers for the taking. Those must have gone quickly. The event felt a little clique-y, kind of like we crashed a private party, but we didn't feel unwelcome, just like we weren't "in" on the big party. We asked the bartender who the winning brewmaster was and were able to congratulated the twenty-something guy on the way out. Watch out Budweiser, this young guy knows what he's doing!

We asked the bartender if this winning beer replaced their seasonal blueberry beer and all the bartender said was that they don't have blueberry beer. Wha? Not exactly the answer we were looking for - especially since this is the same bartender that's been there for at least two years. He seemed to be off on another planet during the party, so we let it slide. In a round-about way I guess we got our answer.

Not a bad stop for free cheese & cheap beer if you were already at the Boardwalk but I wouldn't make a special trip just for this.

Big River Grille Soleil IPA Tapping Party

Enjoy passed appetizers as we tap our latest brew.
"Soleil IPA is a copper colored, American-style India Pale Ale with a pronounced piney and citrus hop aroma from the time-honored tradition of dry-hopping."

This special brew will be available through March 3, 2013.

As we've said before, if you are in the BoardWalk area, stop by for a brew at the party...but we wouldn't recommend making a special trip just for this.

Winter's Nip Holiday Bock

"Winter's Nip is a classic dark double bock featuring 4 different types of malt: Munich light malt, Dark Munich malt, pale malt and chocolate malt. This is a big beer with a lot of body and it will take that little Florida winter chill right out of you!"

Winter's Nip will be available November 13 - December 23, 2012.
