DEAD FALL - House 1
A brand-new house has been announced with the opportunity to vote on specific elements to be included. Facebook fans can vote on these elements starting NOW!

Inside Dead Fall, the ghosts of long lost memories reach into the present and will NOT be forgotten! These spirits from the past lurk in the shadows of this Victorian garden and greenhouse, longing to drag unsuspecting guests into their world. Visitors will have to try to escape before becoming a permanent resident of Dead Fall.

In 2013, Busch Gardens included their Facebook fans in planning Howl-O-Scream’s new haunted house, Death Water Bayou. Fans chose three key elements of the house, and then saw their vote come to life when they visited the event.

Back by popular demand, fans once again have the opportunity to vote on three key elements of Dead Fall, including the name of the estate, a murder tool one of the residents fell victim to, and the name of one of Dead Fall’s residents.

Voting starts today, Aug. 5 on the Howl-O-Scream Facebook page and takes place in a series of three Facebook polls over the course of three weeks. “Like” the Howl-O-Scream Facebook page and start voting now. And stay tuned to the Howl-O-Scream Instagram page for more contests and updated event information.

So head on over to their facebook page and start voting now!

Halloween Horror Nights 2014 Announcement

August 28, 2014
Halloween - House 8
We now have our full line up of houses with the announcement of Halloween joining HHN 24. Based off the original movie, Michael Myers' twisted world comes to life - whether you like it or not.

Here's a clip of the movie in Universal's announcement.

August 12, 2014
Dollhouse of the Damned - House 5
Giggles & Gore Inc. - House 6
Roanoke: Cannibal Colony - House 7
MASKerade; Unstitched - Scarezone 1
Bayou of Blood - Scarezone 2

Universal has released 3 new original houses and 2 scarezones for this year's event.

Dollhouse of the Damned is themed to a morgue that a little girl has taken over and decorated as her playhouse...but not just any playhouse, a sick, twisted and demented version. We'll be encountering several creepy dolls, and people who are becoming dolls themselves.

Giggles & Gore Inc. is the factory where clowns are made...evil clowns...and they're made out of missing people. Guts, gore and terrifying clowns will be around every corner of this frightening house.

Roanoke: Cannibal Colony is loosely based on real events from colonial times back in 1587. A ship expected to be bringing supplies to the colony arrived but was empty...except for a few cannibals who've taken over the ship. A "chaotic gauntlet of flesh-hungry man-eaters" awaits us.

MASKerade; Unstitched's theme is people who are trapped in an old-world time period. Their skin is falling from their bodies, at least the pieces that they haven't stitched back on. Creepy waltz music will fill the air while they dance among you.

Bayou of Blood revolves around a high-priestess, voodoo and human sacrifices. There will be a "sacrifice right in front of you" which reminds us (and we're hoping) of the old scarezones when they put on a small show.

You can read more details as well as interviews with HHN designers at Universal's Blog.

August 7, 2014
Dracula Untold - House 4
Their next announced house will be based off the soon-to-be-released movie (Oct. 17) of the same name. Dracula Untold house "takes you through the terrifying orgin of the man who became Dracula. Each room contains gothic scenes that highlight Vlad the Impaler's transition into the bloodthirsy creature".

Watch the trailer for the movie below.

August 4, 2014
Alien vs. Predator - House 3
Alien? Predator? "Whoever wins, we lose". We will be thrown right into the middle of this terrifying battle at this year's HHN.

Check out this teaser clip below from Universal.

July 22, 2014
The Purge: Anarchy Scarezone 2
Another scarezone has been announced and this one will be based of this year's new movie "The Purge: Anarchy", currently in theaters.
"Once you enter The Purge: Anarchy you'll be lucky to just survive the night. In this unique experience inspired by Universal Pictures new thriller, turmoil and pandemonium awaits those vulnerable to masked vigilantes in search of new victims."

Here's the trailer for the movie if you haven't seen it yet.

July 16, 2014
"Face-Off" Scarezone 1
Universal has announced their first scarezone of the event. It will be based off Syfy's show "Face Off". The scarezone will feature 10 different characters inspired by the TV show, as well as this season's winner.

Here's the video with more details.

July 14, 2014
From Dusk Til Dawn - House 2
The second house of the season has been announced - From Dusk Til Dawn.
"Beneath the neon lit facade of this remote biker bar you'll discover a labyrinth of death, as an ancient race of blood thirsty creatures serve up chaos and carnage."

Check out the video from Halloween Horror Nights with more details.

June 9, 2014
The Walking Dead - House 1

Late last night, details were released to about the theme of this year's event. The Walking Dead will be returning for a 3rd year to Halloween Horror Nights 24 in Orlando and in Hollywood. You can read the full details in the article here.

We are not excited in the least about this news. Seriously?? A third year? I know we aren't the only people disappointed to hear this. Last year's event seemed tired and now they're going for another. All that says to us is that the team is tapped of new ideas for the event. As Frequent Fear Pass holders since 2004, this is the first year we likely won't be.

So, what are your thoughts on this news?

Player 1 Video Game Bar

Looking to venture out near Downtown Disney? Do you like video games, old arcade games and a massive craft & unique beer selection? Well, then you've found your bar.

8562 Palm Parkway, in the same area as Kobe, Hooter's and Sea Dog Brewery near Downtown Disney.

Visit their website, but generally 5pm until 2am weekdays and open at 4pm on weekends.

$5 per person, includes free play on all the arcade games

A massive, (think "World of Beer" style), menu of craft and unique beers. Seriously, it's worth the $5 just to come in for the beer selection. Also some wines, sakes, but no liquor.

This'll be a short review because you really just need to go check it out for yourself.  Your $5 cover gets you as much free play of their classic arcade games as you'd like. They also have more current systems such as PS4, XBOX One and more. Those systems require a 2 beer minimum per hour - easy, right? It's dark, kinda quiet except for the whirr & chirps from the machines and the occasional Guitar Hero battle. We're sure it gets much more interesting at night, as we hung out on a Saturday afternoon for a few hours.

Did some of the classic arcade games not quite work right? Yes. Did a few not work at all? Yes. Will we still come back? Absolutely. Being our first visit, we're not sure about how quick they are to fix games, but the entire experience and the crazy beer selection will put this place on our regular hang-out list, even though they only have 2 pinball machines. We'll see you there.

Check out their website for full details: and follow them on twitter at @player1orlando

Oh, and if you're looking for more bar fun later at night, in the same mall area you'll find Sea Dog Brewery, Backstage Billards if you feel like playing pool, Kitty O'Shea's, a typical Irish bar with great drink specials, and Hammerheads Bar which has a fabulous drag show on Saturday nights...

Epcot After Hours Wind Down

A brand new event has been announced to enjoy the best of Epcot's World Showcase - the bars - after hours.

"Just imagine, after IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth fireworks show at Epcot, instead of heading to your car or back to the resort, you could head to one of four spots in World Showcase for end-of-day relaxation with appetizers and beverages.

You can do just that beginning April 17 through September 15. Choose either La Cava del Tequila at the Mexico Pavilion; Spice Road Table in the Morocco Pavilion; Tutto Gusto in the Italy Pavilion, or Rose & Crown Pub in the United Kingdom Pavilion. Each location will have small bites paired with a beverage flight (additional beverages can be purchased) from 9:20 – 11 p.m. It’s a magical time as the park quiets down.

Cost is $35, plus tax and gratuity. To make a reservation, go to, call 407-WDW-DINE, or check in with Epcot Guest Relations to see if space is available."

PTTP's Thoughts:
This does not sound like a smart use of money. You have to pick one, ONE location to receive one drink and a couple bite-sized apps for $35. You can already get a couple drinks and an appetizer at any time of the day for that price.

So the only advantage to this is that the location you choose might be less crowded during the event versus during the day?? Take your $35 and spend it trying several locations during the day, or even a full meal. We can only see this being a good deal if it included all 4 locations.

We'll be interested in the thoughts and reviews of anyone who goes so be sure to give your review in the comments.

Universal CityWalk Announcement: What's Coming, What's Going.

December 12, 2013
Today Universal announced what they have planned for a major CityWalk remodel. We'll have 8 new restaurant concepts along with a remodel of the Universal Studios Store. This is the first phase of the evolution of CityWalk with these new restaurants opening by June 2014. We'll likely have another announcement next summer for a phase 2. Posted below is the official press release restaurant descriptions and photos from Universal.

NOW OPEN – Red Oven Pizza Bakery: Take a quick trip to Italy for authentic, artisan pizza--made fresh, while you wait--at Universal CityWalk’s first-ever Neopolitan-style pizza bakery. The combination of the highest quality ingredients and a traditional 900-degree stone-lined oven ensures every slice is pizza perfection.

Antojitos Authentic Mexican Food: Take a journey through the cantinas, street carts, and markets of Mexico for unique tapas-style dining at Antojitos Authentic Mexican Food. Only the freshest ingredients are used to create craveable, made from scratch Mexican street fare in an environment of unmatched authenticity.

Hot Dog Hall of Fame: Strike out your hunger at Hot Dog Hall of Fame with some of the most iconic hot dog creations from our nation’s most famous ballparks. Take a seat in the bleachers and enjoy a loaded Chicago dog with all the toppings, a perfectly charred Boston brat, a monster LA dog and more.

The Cowfish: Innovative sushi joins forces with creative burgers for an untraditional dining experience at this reincarnation of the popular North Carolina hotspot. The result: "Burgushi". A cutting-edge fusion of burger and sushi, burgushi items include sushi rolls created using burger components and sandwiches created using sushi elements.

A new modern Italian kitchen concept: Immerse yourself in the essence of modern Italian cuisine at this new restaurant created by Universal Orlando. Watch as the culinary team handcrafts your pasta from scratch to create fresh takes on classic dishes in a clean, contemporary dining atmosphere.
See photo above.

Cold Stone Creamery: For more than 25 years, Cold Stone Creamery has served up the finest, freshest ice cream, cakes, smoothies and shakes using only the highest quality ingredients and their signature process of preparing your custom ice cream creation on a frozen granite stone.

Bread Box: With a Bread Box sandwich, you’ll be transported back to your childhood kitchen or your favorite street corner deli.  Here you’ll find that the combination of quality meats and vegetables, fresh bread, and simple preparation can transform a sandwich into something more.
Menchie’s: One of the world’s most popular frozen yogurt shops is coming to Universal CityWalk.   The dream was to create a place where people from all walks of life and ages could enjoy themselves—not only with great tasting, quality frozen yogurt and an expansive self-serve toppings bar, but with a unique experience in a fun and happy environment that makes you smile.

Since its opening in 1999, Universal CityWalk has served as the “entertainment capital of Orlando,” quickly becoming the hottest place in town among locals and visitors to grab a bite to eat, catch a movie, dance the night away and more.  The two-tiered, 30-acre complex features a collection of nightclubs, restaurants and shops themed after some of the most recognizable names in entertainment, including Bob Marley – A Tribute to Freedom, Emeril’s Restaurant Orlando, Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville and Bubba Gump Shrimp Company.  Universal CityWalk is also home to Rising Star – an energetic karaoke club where guests can perform with a live band and backup singers, the 36-hole mini-golf course, Hollywood Drive-In Golf, and the indescribable, nationally-renowned live show, Blue Man Group.

We're excited with this announcement of some rather intersting restaurants. Sushi on a burger? Sure, we'll give it a try! Follow Cowfish on twitter (@CowfishOrlando) to get a feel for what they're about. Hopefully the new Mexican restaurant has excellent margaritas. The addition of more restaurants means the possibility of more Happy Hours. We'll find out just what they may be offering as we get closer to opening dates. This expansion will add some new life & excitement to the area. With the exception of the loss of Cigarz, we're looking forward to this.

What's Going Away
**Update: We've gotten word that Cigarz, Katie's Candy Co. and TCBY will be closing to make room for the expansion. No word on the other properites that we mentioned, but given the locations of the other new restaurants, they should be safe - for now.

Cigarz's last day will be December 31, 2013. Katie's Candy Co. and TCBY will likely be closing at or around the same date. We're obviously upset that our favorite "locals" bar at CityWalk will be closing. We'll be stopping by a few times for a last hurrah and proper send off.

**We're still waiting on information on which (if any) clubs/bars will be lost with this expansion. However, it's a bad sign that Red Coconut, Cigarz, Pat O'Brien's and The Groove are missing from the description above. If they do end up killing those properties, it looks like they're trying to make CityWalk more family-friendly than before - and we're not big fans of that.

What are your thoughts? Let's talk in the comments.

"Mixers & Masters" at Festival of the Masters at Downtown Disney

Pinkberry Martini - Wolfgang Puck Cafe ©DisneyNovember 8-10, 2013
This year you can grab an artfully-crafted cocktail while enjoying a stroll through Festival of the Masters at Downtown Disney. Disney Parks Blog announced this new addition on their site the other day:

Artistic cocktails take a front seat with a new twist called “Mixers and Masters” with dining locations featuring specialty drinks for sipping and strolling. Look for feather banners to indicate which restaurants will be participating, with each cocktail priced separately.

How about Caveman Painters Punch from T-Rex Café, or a Picasso Punch from Paradiso 37 . . . the Pinkberry Martini from Wolfgang Puck Café or a Blue Nile from Rainforest Café. Fulton’s Crab House will be pouring Sangria, and Portobello has a Strega-rita (Strega is an orange-flavored Italian liqueur). Sip a Huckleberry Lemonade at Splitsville, a pineapple mojito at Bongos Cuban Café or a fruity Planet Feature Presentation from Planet Hollywood. Pick judiciously, there are lots of interesting tastes to try.

Three times a day you can stop by “The Art of Mixology” at the Waterside Stage, with experts showing what goes into making an artfully delicious cocktail during each 10-minute demo.

We love that Disney is adding this new Cocktail Crawl for the Festival of the Masters event. Just because of this, we might actually attend this year!

New Beverage Line-up at California Grill

June 2013
The California Grill atop Disney's Contemporary Resort has been under an extensive refurbishment since early this year. It's expected to open late summer/early fall, but until then, get excited about their new wine, beer and cocktail offerings.

From the Disney Parks Blog:

Just back from a whirlwind trip through Napa Valley and Sonoma Vineyards, California Grill Chef Brian Piasecki and general manager Michael Scheifler went in search of the best of the best for the soon-to-open California Grill.

“We visited 15 wineries in five days,” says Scheifler. “It was a whirlwind, but we came home with some great new discoveries.” Like Tres Sabores, a small, organic vineyard in Napa where they discovered a delicious zinfandel. And Heitz Cellars, where they are bottling magnums of chardonnay just for California Grill – it’s resting in the bottles now and won’t be ready until fall, says Scheifler.

“We’ll offer club service, where we will bring the magnum to the table to pour by the glass, a really fun presentation” he says.

The new display case is a showstopper as guests exit the elevator to the 15th floor, with 1,600 bottles on display in an onstage, climate-controlled, state-of-the-art cabinet. In all there will be about 250 wines on the list, and out of those, 72 percent will be from California. Another 22 percent is Old World wines and 5 percent New World wines.

“We’ll have something for every palate,” says Scheifler, “from a first-growth Bordeaux to a boutique wine from Oregon or South Africa.”

There will be 80 wines by the glass, up from 50 on the previous wine menu. And sommeliers will be there to help you select a pairing, with more than 20 on staff.

Scheifler is just as excited about the expanded sake program to pair with the expanded sushi menu, with 10 varieties on the list, from a light, sparkling sake to “cask strength.” And craft beer is back, with eight brews on the new menu, mostly from California.

“We can’t wait to debut the new beverage lineup,” says Scheifler. “Drinks span from classic cocktails to wines you won’t find anywhere else, the beverages are a great complement to Chef Brian’s new menu.”

We can't wait to go research the new cocktail menu and some sushi. We'll post a full drink review as soon as we can.

Review 4/28/13
We stopped by to enjoy a few brews over the weekend and really liked the new place. It's a very large space, concerte floors, with an urban style with a hint of steampunk in their bottle light fixtures. There's a huge square bar, tons of booth or high top seating and lots of light from the windows with a full view of I4 just outside. Plenty of tvs as well. They also have a patio out in the back.

We'll be back soon to do a full report of beer and food, but we wanted to get this info out now for you. We're most interested in the late night happy hour. C'mon $.50 oysters and cheap beer? Yeah, we'll be back.

Check out for more information.

It also showcases the creative process that brought to life two of Universal Orlando's newest entertainment experiences - the Universal Cinematic Spectacular - 100 Years of Movie Memories lagoon show and the Universal Superstar Parade.

Universal Orlando is the only Orlando destination where guests are not just entertained - they become part of the entertainment, soaring above Hogwarts with Harry Potter, swinging above the streets with Spider-Man, transformed into a banana-loving minion in the hilarious and heartwarming Despicable Me Minion Mayhem ride, and helping Shrek save Princess Fiona in Shrek 4-D.

And this unique collaboration between the museum and Universal Orlando is the first time the public will be able to learn about each step in the story development process that brings the theme parks entertainment experiences and annual events to life."

PTTP's Comments: This looks like an amazing opportunity to take a peak behind the scenes and learn about how Universal pulls off these events every year. We plan to make it out for a few of them, but if you go, let us know what you thought in the comments.

Transformers: The Ride 3D at Universal Studios Orlando

Get Ready - It's Time to Prepare for Battle
Grand Opening June 20, 2013!

May 2, 2013
The downtown display was updated early this morning with "Prepare for Battle June 20" added at the top of the sign. Given how ready the ride looks at Universal we're a little surprised the opening date isn't sooner. However, it could start soft open testing at any time, so be sure to follow us on twitter for the latest updates.

Transformers have taken over downtown Orlando! They have attached a giant cling of Megatron on the side the Fairbanks building that faces I4 in downtown. There are also 2 cars that are smashed up at the base, along with some rubble and a few N.E.S.T. officers "examining" the scene.

It's quite impressive in person, the photos don't capture its massiveness.

One of us here at PTTP works downtown, so we'll keep an eye on what's going on.

Official Press Release from Universal:

Universal Orlando Resort announced that its next blockbuster attraction will be the widely-popular TRANSFORMERS: The Ride – 3D. The groundbreaking ride – created under license from Hasbro, Inc. and based on its iconic TRANSFORMERS brand – will bring the intergalactic battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons to Universal Studios Florida in summer 2013.

Already a "must-see" at Universal Studios Singapore and Universal Studios Hollywood, TRANSFORMERS: The Ride – 3D is a mind-blowing, action-packed ride experience that you have to see to believe. You will come face to face with Megatron. You will dodge explosions and attacks by the Decepticons. You will fight to save mankind alongside Optimus Prime and the Autobots. It will be the greatest battle you'll ever ride.

Universal worked closely with Michael Bay, the award-wining director of the "TRANSFORMERS" film series and the ride's creative consultant, to create an authentic experience that brings the non-stop action of the films to life. The attraction combines the larger-than-life TRANSFORMERS characters and an exciting storyline with life-like HD CGI media, state-of-the-art 3-D technology and amazing special effects to place riders right in the middle of an epic battle between good and evil.

"We broke the mold and have taken this ride to a new technological level in terms of blending seamless 3-D," said Michael Bay, director of the "TRANSFORMERS" films.

"TRANSFORMERS: The Ride – 3D is the perfect addition to Universal Orlando's thrilling theme park experiences," said Mark Woodbury, president of Universal Creative. "The ride has already proven to be a hit at our Hollywood and Singapore parks, and we're excited that Universal Orlando guests will soon be able to join the Autobots in the fight to save the world."

TRANSFORMERS films, television shows and merchandise have captivated millions of people all over the world. To date, three blockbuster films have been released – "TRANSFORMERS" (2007), "TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN" (2009) and "TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON" (2011) – grossing more than $2 billion combined worldwide at the box office. The three films were directed by Michael Bay, executive produced by Steven Spielberg and released by Paramount Pictures.

TRANSFORMERS: The Ride – 3D is slated to open in summer 2013 at Universal Orlando. The attraction will have one of the shortest build times in Universal history – making it one of Universal's most ambitious projects ever. For more information about TRANSFORMERS: The Ride – 3D, visit

Universal's construction crew has been ferociously building this ride since June. We've never seen such fast movement in construction of an attraction. We'll be protecting the AllSpark from the Decepticons before we know it! We estimate that it may be ready as early as May for soft openings (not official, of course!).

What's the ride like? If you've ridden Spiderman over at Islands of Adventure, it's very similar in ride vehicle, and layout. Visit where you can watch videos about the making of the ride, behind the scenes information and more!

For the weekend after the announcement, Universal brought out a large-scale model of Bumblebee out in front of the Universal arches. It's a shame it's only for the weekend, as it would be a great promotional item for the attraction.

From the Disney Parks Blog:

“As part of the overall theming, we wanted to offer wine that enhances the guest experience and complements the French-inspired cuisine,” says Stuart McGuire, Beverage Director, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. “The wines focus primarily on France’s famous wine-growing regions, including Champagne, Alsace, Loire, Rhone, Burgundy and Bordeaux.

“We’ll also offer the leading French beer, Kronenbourg 1664,” says McGuire. “And, staying in the general region, we’ll also offer Belgian beers.”

PTTP's Thoughts~
We are reading a lot of mixed reviews on this tradition-breaking decision. We see nothing wrong with having a nice glass of wine or beer with your dinner. We assume they will have a serving policy in place, such as maximum of 2 per person. We're sure Disney will be keeping a very close eye on this decision. They won't let it get out of control or be abused. After all, you can't just saunter in and order one to go, so there's no fear of drunk college students waiting in the Pirates queue with you.

Let's face it - this decision was all about the Benjamins. Yes, just think of the extra profit from selling over-priced wine & beer. Will we see beer & wine seep out into other restaurants in the park? Time and the success of this restaurant will be the deciding factor. And to those saying "this is a place for children"? Don't worry, the tourists who want to get sloshed will go over to the real bar - Epcot.

Think of this as WDW's own Club 33...and don't forget - Walt enjoyed cocktails and cigars.
