United Kingdom - Rose & Crown Pub & Dining Room

Now, one of three full bars in Epcot, thanks to the addition of Tutto Gusto in Italy and Spice Road Table in Morocco. Once you walk in it's easy to forget you're in a theme park . . . until the "Hatlady" starts singing sing-along Disney toons at the piano.  It's a fun bar but, as you may have expected, it's usually pretty busy and it can sometimes be hard to get the bartender's attention to get a drink.  Besides having all the hard liquor you can think of, they've also got a good selection of Brittish beer on tap. And, lets face it, the Brits make a good beer.

Atmosphere

Being the only full-service bar in Epcot, this place is never anything but absolutely packed! Good luck trying to get a table. Very loud, especially once the singing starts. There are bathrooms located inside the bar. You do feel like you're in an authentic British pub though. Decorated in Old English style - dark wood tables & chairs, etc. No tv's here, so if you wanted to catch your team play you're out of luck.

Review

Try a Boddington's Cream Ale, thick and creamy like a Guinness but it's not dark.  Have you ever tried a Newcastle? If you like dark beer, it's just about as good as it gets.  Full bodied caramel flavor from roasted malt and the perfect balance of bitter and sweet. (Sorry naysayers, we like Newcastle. Really like it.)

In the mood for a decidedly electrifying day-glow green drink? Well you've stepped into the right pub because they've got two with very different tastes.

See if you can tame the Welsh Dragon. This unique mix is is sweet with a sour kick of Midori melon liqueur and a smooth hint of mint that makes this one a dragon to remmeber. Seems to go well with watching a lady sing while wearing strange hats... (left drink)

On the other hand, the Leaping Leprechaun is surprisingly easy to catch with a sour overall taste and a light melon flavor. It appears those little leprechauns know how to pour a mean drink. A few too many of these and you might end up spending the night telling strangers they'll never get your pot of gold.
  (right drink)

Pimm's Cup Cocktail. This classic British cocktail's inticracies lie in its simplicity. The drink consists of just two ingredients, Pimms #1 and Sprite. Pimms is a gin-based liquor with distinct flavors of citrus and spice. Mixing with Sprite highlights the unique attributes of this unusual liquor. The drink is reminiscent of an iced tea cocktail with a slightly bitter aftertaste. If you're tired of the same-old-same-old drinks, give this classic a shot.

Bumblebee. Half Boddingtons & half Guinness goodness. 'Nuff said.

I like that all the bar staff is from Great Britain. I once asked a Brit customer in there how authentic it was, and he said "very authentic." Guess I'll have to wait till I visit England to find out for sure.

Gerard - I keep reading about this "Carl the bartender" who is supposed to be awesome, but every time we are there, which is a lot, he's no where to be seen. I've heard to ask him about his coin trick if you ever meet him.

You have to love Carl!! Carl usually works the first shift and usually on the right side of the bar near the bathrooms. I think he leaves fairly early. You defininely want to see him when it's not very crowed (early in the day - like 11am) so he can show you some of his special bar tricks - the dollar drop, salt shaker and many more. When it's crowded he will be too busy actually serving drinks.

Being English (living in SC) I can tell you that the Rose and Crown is very authentic apart from one thing... its really clean. The atmosphere is just like a proper pub and the drinks are good. I am looking for forward to getting a pimms in a week and a half, and definitely a scotch egg! Mmm... wonderful taste of home.
