Halloween Horror Nights 2012 Rumors

8/28/12
HHN has released some more teaser info on their facebook page. They had a "contest" for the first 22 people to email them, that each one would receive a different clue. Not a big fan on the way in which they released this info, it's not for everyone to take part in and then they expect us "fans" to "work together" to put the pieces together? Eh, too much work on my part. But, thanks to the tireless fans over at OrlandoUnited.com, they have put together the full list of clues that were sent out:

Clue #1- "The foolish will not only suffer the consequences, but they will see the house for what it truly is... A horrible place where imagination and reality have combined to create a living nightmare."

Clue #2- "By day all is normal, but as the darkness of night falls, the creatures guarding this sanctuary come alive to protect this sacred place from intruders."

Clue #3- "It's time he comes home."

Clue #4-

Clue #5-

Clue #6- “Your future seems grim.”

Clue #7- "Fear grips your heart as the darkness surrounds you... Then all of a sudden a flash of lightning strikes and terror's true faces take back what is theirs.”

Clue #8-

Clue #9-

Clue #10-

Official HHN Facebook- "We knew with all the construction going on something like this might happen. We’ve dug “something” up. We’re not exactly sure what it is, but it is NOT of this world. It’s freaking us out a little bit. More to come…"

“HHN Fans, the countdown has started. On 8/30 all will be revealed, and there’s no turning back…"

Given that they had already said prior to this "email" teaser that they would be revealing all on Aug. 30, it feels like this was a last-minute thought. If this would've been put out there maybe a month ago, it would've been more exciting. Enough already. Just bring the real info. They're not winning any awards on anticipation this year.

Today, HHN released another teaser image on their facebook page. A clue to a house or scarezone? Any ideas people?

This morning, Penn Jillette mentioned on twitter that he's headed to Orlando:

"
Off to Orlando this morning. It's really early in the morning. Wicked early. Oh dear. There are other people up this early. Amazing."

Is someone coming to check out his house? We think so! Could an another house announcement be coming soon? Hopefully. Hollywood just announced another house today (La Llorna), so maybe Orlando won't be too far behind.

Whew! We're back to 7 confirmed houses for HHN. Parkrumors.com dug up another permit verifying this information. The seventh house will be the Parade building. We figured they would never let the event go with 6 houses, but still it's a relief to see the 7th announced. Now, how about some more official event announcments Universal - we're eagerly awaiting!

It's looking more & more like Penn & Teller will have a house based off of them instead of the rumored show. Their current show in Vegas is running a regular schedule throughout October, and they are making a special appearance show at the Foxwoods Casino in late October. To have them devote the amount of time that HHN runs to put on shows really would be detrimental to their current show at the Rio in Las Vegas. But to have them be creative directors for a house - now that's something they would have time for.

Also, if you look at our Construction Pics page, you'll see that one of the Sprung Tent houses has some props that look awfully similar to the generic "Welcome to Las Vegas" sign. Looks like their house might be back there.

We don't know the overall theme for this year's HHN yet, but wouldn't have this "Vegas" themed house been better themed to last year's Lady Luck? Just saying.

7/24/12
Alice Cooper is said to be bringing a house to HHN Orlando this year. He has designed for Hollywood before, but this will be his first year for Orlando. Universal is yet to officially announce this, so this info is in the Rumors section. The house, which Cooper talked about during a webcast this morning, is said to be named "Alice Goes to Hell in 3D".

We're very much looking forward to experiencing one of Cooper's houses since reviews of the Hollywood versions always seemed very intense and far scarier than anything we've experienced at Orlando. So far, this is building up to be a very dark, and scary year with the Silent Hill and Walking Dead franchises already announced.

Hollywood has listed Walking Dead as one of their houses on their website. Is the announcement coming soon for Orlando?

7/11/12

I was listening to Penn Jillette's podcast (Penn's Sunday School) and he mentioned that he (paraphrased) "won't be able to do as many live shows (of the podcast)" this fall. Is it because he'll be here in Orlando? Not sure what it's worth, just thought I'd put it out there.

Here are a few photos from Saturday of the demolition of Soundstage 44. The demolition looks done. Now they are cleaning up with 3 backhoes and new construction will likely begin soon.

6/29/12

If you have been following other sites or along on twitter, you already know that Soundstage 44 is completely demolished. What does this mean for the number of houses? It was 7 (out of the normal 8) and that counted SS 44. Where will the 7th house go now or will there only be 6? Universal is throwing a big wrench in the regular construction of HHN this year. It seems no one really has an idea of what to expect, which makes for heightened anticipation of what this year's event will be. Maybe they'll throw the money from the lacking 8th (and maybe now 7th?) house into improving the scarezones and overall atmosphere (which they desperately need to improve). We plan on stopping by this Saturday, so expect a photo update soon.

It appears that one of the locations for a house may no longer be happening. Soundstage 44 (the old Hercules/Xena building, - the one that holds the Shrek & Donkey meet & greet) may be on the fast track to being demolished. According to Parkscope.blogspot.com, Universal has filed a demolition permit for a building (though not specifically listed as SS44), removed the Back to the Future DeLorean and the train, as well as spotting survey balloons hovering above the building. What is going on? We'll have to wait to see.

Jason Garcia from the Orlando Sentinel posted a response from Universal on Twitter yesterday regarding this rumor:
@Jason_Garcia: Amid Transformers rumors, Universal Orlando says it will remove "a portion" of former Hercules/Xena building as "we are preparing Universal Studios Florida" for future growth."

We find it very interesting that Universal already posted a response to a rumor that just started a few days ago. PTTP will likely be stopping by Universal this weekend and will post whatever we see or hear.

6/9/12

It's only the middle of June and HHN 22 rumors and leaked info is starting to come out in full-force. Here's a quick wrap up of what's already being discussed:

The Walking Dead - Click Here for Construction Pictures
• A Walking Dead house is basically all but confirmed for the Disaster queue location. According to ParkRumors.com (who does a fantastic job of digging up those building permits!) they have found rooms called "Hospital Hallway" and "Roof Top" for the Disaster queue. If you watched the show you will remember that is from the opening episodes.
• An old RV has been spotted parked behind the Disaster queue as well. An RV plays a large role in the show, so that only solidifies the rumor on this house.
• We spotted some Walking Dead merchandise (t-shirts, books) inside the Terminator gift shop a few weeks ago.

How Many Houses and Locations
• According to ParkRumors.com again, only 7 house permits have been filed instead of 8 in the past.
House Locations:
SS20A, SS20B, SS22, B44 – Herc/Xena, B67 – Disaster, Sprung 1, Sprung 2
• Since there are only 7 house permits, will one house be a "double" with multiple ways to experience it? Or will they just be spreading that extra focus out into the scarezones & shows?
• It's also only a matter of time before HHN matches Howl-O-Scream's Alone house, an extra-charge house. Will this be the year?
• Most of us were waiting for the year that HHN does duel parks again, but unfortunately this will not be the year.

Penn & Teller
• There is a strong possibility that Penn & Teller will be part of the event in some way. Penn & Teller were in Orlando earlier this year and Penn mentioned some interesting things on twitter:
"@pennjillette: We did a fun show for Home builders this morning and then one of the most exciting meetings ever at Universal. If we do this, it’ll be great."

Cinematic Spectacular - Halloween Edition?
Universal's brand-new water, lights & video nighttime show is designed in a way that the film could easily be switched out for a Halloween version come event nights. During the grand opening of the Cinematic Specatular, the desigers were being rather sly and avoiding questions when media asked about converting the new show to a Halloween theme. Seems very likely that it will happen.

We'll also be keeping an eye on any upcoming auditions that may relate to HHN.
