7 All-New Houses

Dead End
"If enough people believe in something, perception can become reality. In Carey, Ohio, the perception was that countless horrific acts had occurred in the old Hartford Mansion. The reality was that the curse which befell the house was far worse than any story ever told."

"The Catedral de Caementum Animus is, by day, undergoing a building-wide architectural refurbishment. By night, the many stone gargoyles that keep watchful eye over the sanctuary come to life with the mission of protecting this sacred place against intrusion."

House of Horrors
"This is no remake. No sequel. No re-imagining. These are Universal’s classic monsters of fear, who have terrified audiences from the Silver Screen. They have been waiting within silver celluloid to be resurrected. The flash of a lightning strike cuts the darkness that surrounds, and terror’s true faces take back what is theirs…"

The Walking Dead - Dead Inside
"There is strength in numbers, and you must band together to make it through many of the iconic settings made famous by the critically-acclaimed AMC television series, “The Walking Dead.” As the city is crawling with hordes of walkers, the issue of your becoming one of them is not a question of if, but when."

Welcome to Silent Hill
"In the eerie and desolate town of Silent Hill, ash falls from the sky and the physical laws of nature no longer apply. If you dare to venture into this alternate dimension, there is only one law of nature with which you must concern yourself: survival.

Alice Cooper - Welcome to my Nightmare
"Journey into the legendary rocker Alice Cooper’s twisted mind and witness the natural melding of horror and Cooper’s four decades-long career. Here you will follow Steven, the iconic character from many of Cooper’s works, as you come face-to-face with a myriad of tormentors who threaten an already-decaying sense of sanity."

Penn & Teller - Newkd Las Vegas 3D
"World-renowned magicians Penn and Teller have accidentally nuked Las Vegas, but don’t worry, it’s nothing a fresh coat of paint and a truckload of BS can’t fix! Come on down to New Vegas, where all that glitters isn’t gold, and in fact probably has fatal levels of radioactivity."

2 Shows
Bill & Ted's Excellent Halloween Adventure
"Party on as those two most excellent dudes return to skewer the biggest names in entertainment and pop culture."

20 Penny Circus
"The 20 Penny Circus brings its “Magic For People With Questionable Taste” to an unsuspecting Halloween Horror Nights audience."

"With a ripping, clawing and tearing through the concrete beneath Universal Studios come ancient cemetery structures, spilling blood-raged, vampiric hordes that span the eras of time, barbaric warriors with a need to carve flesh from bone and an all-female, chainsaw-wielding prison gang. Unlike in years past, there are no boundaries. No safezones. No one escapes."

"As you make your way through the dark and sinister streets - beware. Someone is watching your every move. The Legions of Horror have ripped and clawed their way out of the ground from an ancient buried cemetary long kept secret. They'll move silently throughout the night, never staying in one place too long. Don't bother trying to avoid them. They WILL get you."

The Iniquitus
"Rooted in evil these are the patrons of death, and were the first to rise from the cemetary. They've summoned the Dark Legions to join them in a night of carnage as they feast upon the living."

Dark Legions: Vampires
Summoned by The Iniquitus, the creatures of the night are here to quench their undying thirst. They lurk in the shadows, listening for fresh blood pulsing inside your living veins.

Dark Legions: Beasts
The Iniquitus have commanded these grotesque predators to hunt you down. Silently they'll stalk you...all night long, until they have you surrounded and there's nowhere left to hide.

Dark Legions: Warriors
Slaughtered in a deadly battle, the Warriors have been brought back from the dead by The Iniquitus. Seeking their bloodthirsty revenge, they move under a cloak of darkness. So beware - that's not a breeze on the back of your neck.

Dark Legions: Prisoners
At a brutal women's prison, fire scorched the inmates alive and the charred convicts were trapped between life and death - until now. The Iniquitus have released them and they're going to kill everyone in their path. Their chainsaws and churning and they're coming for you.

Dark Legions: Traditionals
These aren't the fiends from your childhood books. These are the fears that creep inside your dreams. Brought forth by The Iniquitus, these ghosts and goblins have teeth - and they're hungry.

PTTP's First Impressions:
• Although we say it every year, it seems like this year is aiming to be scarier than previous years.
• Excited to see House of Horrors - who doesn't love classic monsters?!
• So no theme or icon this year. Can't say that we're not disappointed, having a good theme helps unite the event. We'll just have to wait and see how it all ties together when it opens.
• No theme/icon means no main stage show yet again. Yes, we'll keep mentioning this until they bring it back.
• Park-wide Scarezones of roaming hoardes? Well, not sure what to think. Obviously everyone is thinking "Howl-O-Scream already did that last year" - they did, and it worked VERY well over there. We had our reservations about Howl-O-Scream's last year and they ended up hitting it out of the park. Universal has always lagged in overall atmosphere compared to HOS to us, so we're looking forward to what they have in store. Prove us wrong Universal. (Pick up a few ghille suits - trust us!)
• Just don't get me started on the art direction for the "Scarezone Monster" photo. He doesn't look scary at all, just, um, odd. They've always produced excellent, scary art for the event, but this one simply falls flat.
• Happy to see a new show "20 Penny Circus" - sounds interesting.
• No official mention of a Halloween-specific lagoon show, but we'd be awfully surprised if HHN doesn't have something up its sleeve.
• No matter what, this is always the best time of the year - bring on the scares!
• What do you think? Add your thoughts in the comments, and be sure to follow us on twitter at @PartyTTParks as we will post pics, live video & more during several visits to the event.

from @MrTeller via twitterPenn & Teller New(kd) Las Vegas
A Penn & Teller themed house is the 4th HHN house to be announced. The plot of the house is based around the pair's new trick that includes a nuclear warhead. We will get to see Penn & Teller themselves in videos throughout the house.

"World-renowned magicians Penn & Teller have accidentally nuked Las Vegas, but don’t worry, it’s nothing a fresh coat of paint and a truckload of BS can’t fix! Come on down to New Vegas, where all that glitters isn’t gold, and in fact probably has fatal levels of radioactivity."
-Official Universal description

We have been expecting this verification for awhile, since we added it to our Rumors page months ago, and spotted some interesting barrels & a Las Vegas sign during our Construction Photo Updates. This house will be one of the Sprung Tents back behind Men In Black/The Simpsons.

Interestingly enough, the announcement was not broken by Universal, but by the OrlandoSentinel.com and Variety.com.

"We blow up all of Las Vegas. It goes terribly, terribly wrong," said Penn Jillette.

So, the house, called “Penn & Teller New(kd) Las Vegas,” will have a radioactive feel and include Vegas staples such as showgirls, slot machines and an all-you-can-eat buffet. It will have 3-D effects.

The idea is “to take all the lights and the sounds and all the clichés of Las Vegas and turn them upside down into a fun nightmare, which is what haunted mazes are supposed to be,” Jillette said.

Universal Orlando officials approached Penn & Teller with the Halloween Horror Nights proposal early this year, said Jim Timon, senior vice president of entertainment.  Both Penn and Teller have made multiple trips to Orlando to work on the project with Universal’s creative team.

“They’re not just putting their name on a haunted house,” Timon said.

They liked being working in the same room as Universal’s Horror Nights veterans, Jillette said.

“So much of collaboration is nonverbal,” he said. “If you sit across the table from someone and you start to get excited about an idea, you watch everyone’s faces. If they don’t light up in exactly the right way, the idea changes as you’re talking.”

“We will set up the premise of the place. We will tell you about our horrible accident. And then all the way through we’ll try to make you think you’re having a good time while you’re really having a scary time,” Teller said. “We’ll be telling you what a lovely, comfortable, pleasant environment you’re living in while monsters are throwing themselves at you.”

Although the haunted house blows up their current hometown, Jillette thinks that will be OK with Las Vegas residents.

“We love Las Vegas. But one of the great things about Las Vegas is that it’s one of the places in this country that’s very happy making fun of itself,” he said. “I think New Jersey, L.A. and Las Vegas are the best at the people who live here actually not taking it seriously at all.”

Alice Cooper - Welcome to My Nightmare
Alice Cooper is coming to Orlando! Ok, maybe not him in person, but his haunted house "Alice Cooper - Welcome to My Nightmare". Cooper is no stranger to HHN - he's had houses for Hollywood's HHN before and now Orlando gets to experience his twisted sense of horror!

Here's the official description from Universal:
"Journey into legendary rocker Alice Cooper’s twisted mind and witness the natural melding of horror and Cooper’s four decades-long career. Here you will follow Steven, the iconic character from many of Cooper’s works, as you come face to face with a myriad of tormentors who threaten an already-decaying sense of sanity."

“There are few as coolly demented as Alice Cooper,” said Jim Timon, Senior Vice President of Entertainment at Universal Orlando Resort.  “He’s a cult classic icon and his partnership on the ‘Alice Cooper – Welcome to My Nightmare’ maze will bring something completely new and unexpected to our Halloween Horror Nights fans.”

This is already looking to be a particularly dark & twisted year with Silent Hill and Walking Dead houses announced. Check out the video from Universal announcing Alice Cooper's house:

Silent Hill
©UniversalA Silent Hill themed house was announced yesterday during a panel at Comic Con. For those of you who are not familiar with Silent Hill, it is a long-running, popular video game that had a movie based off it back in 2006. You don't have to worry about playing several video games or hunting down an old movie because Silent Hill: Revelation 3D is scheduled to hit theaters on October 26.

Check out this teaser video of the Silent Hill house from Universal Studios:

Goosebumps. This looks good.
