New Year's Eve at SeaWorld

©SeaWorld

"Ring in 2014 SeaWorld style by celebrating our connection to the sea, sea life and the world we share! A spectacular musical celebration with DJs and live bands, plus a bold fireworks display, send a wave of welcome to the New Year ahead.

SeaWorld’s Christmas Celebration is splashing waves of holiday spirit over the park (now nightly) the rest of December, and New Year’s Eve is included! Here in a wintery, watery wonderland, guests of all ages will enjoy loads of frosty fun as they watch stunning live shows inspired by the natural world, journey to the North Pole to meet Santa himself, then share a smile with a playful penguin at the South Pole while visiting the park’s newest attraction, Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin!

Enjoy added fun on New Year’s Eve as SeaWorld stays open until 1 a.m. and features additional entertainment. From a DJ spinning Latin-style tunes at The Waterfront, to top 40 hits playing at Wild Arctic, and local pop/rock artists Project DJ Slam performing at The Christmas Market, there’s plenty of music in the air. And the night wouldn’t be complete without fireworks lighting up the night sky! Kick off the New Year with a bang while watching an extended fireworks extravaganza during Holiday Reflections: Fireworks & Fountains Finale immediately following the last Winter Wonderland on Ice show."

Additional show times have been added for extended New Year’s Eve park hours; times listed below for all shows:
  • Clyde & Seamore Countdown to Christmas at 6:30 p.m. and 8:15 p.m.
  • O Wondrous Night at 6 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.
  • Shamu Rocks at 9 p.m. and 10:45 p.m.
  • Shamu Christmas Miracles at 7:30 p.m.
  • Winter Wonderland on Ice at 7:15 p.m., 9:45 p.m. and 11:25 p.m. (Extended Holiday Reflections: Fireworks & Fountains Finale immediately following 11:25 p.m. show.)
(All show times are subject to change.)

We have yet to ring in the New Year with Shamu, so if you've experienced New Year's here, let everyone know what you thought in the comments section. Considering how festive the park is, and how they usually have DJ booths during their other events, we think this might be a fun place to celebrate. I would expect moderately heavy crowds, but you're in luck - this is the best park to be at when it's crowded. There are so many animal exhibits that you don't need to wait in line for along with the relaxed atmosphere makes it a great place to just hang out.

Plus, you can enjoy all the special Christmas shows during the day.

SeaWorld's Christmas Celebration

Select Dates November 23 - December 31, 2013
Celebrate Christmas under the sea SeaWorld style! Enjoy special Christmas themed shows of your favorites Shamu and Clyde & Seamore, ride the Polar Express, and sip some hot chocolate while watching the lagoon full of lighted trees come to life and dance to the holiday music. Listed below are the special Christmas Shows and Attractions with their official descriptions, along with our reviews and photos.

O Wondrous Night
"O Wondrous Night tells the greatest story never told, with more than 30 carols, based upon the Christmas Story and told through the eyes of a variety of live animals. Everyone will be entertained by this touching, light-hearted and glorious celebration featuring a host of angels, animals and the true glory of Christmas. And new this year, guests will have the opportunity to take photos with some of the stars from the show!"

Winter Wonderland on Ice
"Christmas comes to life on a stage of ice, jewels and light as skaters dazzle and delight in this show-stopping, ice skating extravaganza. The other stars of the show are the towering fountains of water dancing on the lake and fireworks that light up the night sky after the last ice show of the evening. It’s a don’t-miss experience for the holidays that will take your breath away."

Shamu Christmas...Miracles
"SeaWorld invites you to experience the power and beauty of our Shamu family in our nighttime holiday show: Shamu Christmas Miracles. Thrilling seasonal music rings out and killer whales soar through the air in a story of reflection and understanding... of peace and friendship... of the everyday miracles that surround us all year long. From the sweeping vocal majesty of our soundtrack to the heart-pounding excitement you've come to expect from our Shamu family, this performance will take you on a stirring voyage into the heart of the holidays."

Clyde & Seamore's Countdown to Christmas
"Santa’s helpers, Clyde Sea Lion and Seamore Sea Lion, are bringing their own brand of comedy to Christmas this year. Our loveable sea lions, along with a few mischievous otters, a comical elf, and a wintery walrus or two, invite you and yours to their fun-filled holiday celebration. It doesn't get more holly or jolly than this."

2012 Review:
If you know Clyde & Seamore like we do, you already know that their special event shows are even funnier and more entertaining than normal (and the regular show is great!). This is our definite "Don't Miss" show of the holiday season.

Holiday Reflections
"SeaWorld celebrates the season with soaring fountains, dazzling lights, and festive fireworks, choreographed to joyous holiday musical favorites. Experience a wondrous SeaWorld Christmas connection that lights the night."

The Polar Express
"Now boarding! It’s a wondrous journey to the North Pole aboard THE POLAR EXPRESS. The beloved holiday classic comes to life as you and your family are immersed in the heart-warming story of a young boy’s thrilling ride into an enchanted world. The sights, sounds, and scents of the season surround you. From the moment the conductor calls “all aboard” to your arrival at the North Pole (where you’ll meet Santa Claus himself), THE POLAR EXPRESS Experience promises to create an unforgettable holiday memory."

2012 Review:
This motion simulator (or non-simulator, your choice) takes you aboard the Polar Express and drops you off at the North Pole. They have done an excellent job of converting the Wild Arctic ride into this theme. Everything has been redecorated, down to the "wood" doors. The heavy scent of pine greets you as you step in to the loading area. If you do get the slightest bit motion sick, you might want to do the non-ride version. This ride is rather rough and jerky, and I believe more dizzying than similar simulators. After the ride, you'll find an enormous Christmas tree and Santa Claus himself. There is a small booth inside that sells hot chocolate. Plus, if you are an Annual Passholder you can skip the ride and enter the rest of the exhibit at a door to the left of the attraction exit inside the gift shop. (Honestly, we've never seen anyone checking passes at this door, so give it a try if you have just a one-day ticket.) Don't forget to have your picture taken in front of the Polar Express engine!

Sea of Trees
"Take a walk through our wintery, watery wonderland and immerse yourself in a sea of holiday trees. Our glistening forest with over 100 trees sparkles to music and lights up the water... and, your eyes. As the lights literally dance to holiday classics, your heart will soar with wonder and delight at this truly awe-inspiring Christmas treat."

2012 Review: The lagoon is filled with tinsel-covered trees that light-up and dance to the music after sundown. There are several great viewing spots for the roughly 10 minute show. The Christmas Market area, the bridge across the lake, the Sand Bar or the area by the Spice Mill restaurant all provide great views.

The Christmas Market
"The Christmas Market, located on the park’s Bayside Pathway, features unique artisans and culinary delights. At this festive, bustling market, guests can find one-of-a-kind gifts and dine on scrumptious holiday delights."

2012 Review: Lots of great treats including sausages with onions, 1/2lb. hamburgers, snacks and more, along with some adult hot beverages to wash all that merriment down. Click here for the 2012 Christmas Drinks & Seasonal Beer menu.

Fireside Feast
"
Enjoy a warm-hearted holiday experience and meet Santa and Mrs. Claus at Santa’s Fireside feast, an exclusive dinner featuring an all-you-care-to-eat menu of holiday favorites and delicious desserts.  A complimentary family photo is also included to remember the night.  Reserve your space now.

Review: The Cranberry Hot Toddy was the best with the tart cranberry flavor offset by dark rum and a hint of orange. They also include a full cinnamon stick to put inside your drink if you so choose. A nice, hot, comfort drink that will give you that warm & fuzzy feeling.

The Colonial Coffee is how coffee should be served! Ok, maybe not everytime, but the Kahlua and Brandy turn a plain coffee into a rich, decadent drink. Pour value depends on the bartender, but when the temps drop, these start looking like a good deal - especially if you are an annual passholder...

Bonus
- Annual Passholders get Double the discount at ALL Christmas Marketplace booths! That's 20% off the drinks!

Sharks Underwater Grill Bar
There is one specialty drink on the menu over at the Sharks Underwater Grill & Bar this year.

Holiday Splash - $12
