Atmosphere
Whether or not you are actually staying at a BoardWalk Resort, you should make a stop for some casual, laid-back afternoons. The evening is when the place really comes alive with magicians and other performers doing tricks for passersby. You'll find some red metal tables and chairs next to this stand to sit back and relax with a great view of Cresent Lake. 

Thank God the margarita monstrosities from 2012 are no longer on the menu. We'll be (reluctantly) reviewing the new ones soon.

2012 Margaritas Review
We love Disney! That needs to be said before a review like this one comes out. Sorry Mickey, here comes a heaping helping of truth. We've found it. The worst margaritas on Disney property. It's hard to believe that someone taste-tested these and thought "Yup, that's what I'm looking for!"

Caramel Apple Frozen Margarita
Sounds interesting, right? Tangy and tart margarita balanced by rich, smooth carmel. It could pair well; what could go wrong?

Here's what: margarita mix from a slush machine that comes out with the consistency of a snow cone that tastes like sour apple pucker floating on top of a layer of sickeningly sweet caramel syrup that absolutely refuses to mix in...no matter how much you stir. With both of these you've literally got to pick which layer you want to try to drink and adjust the depth of the straw correspondingly with each sip. 










BoardWalk Frozen Margarita
Cherry vodka, Watermelon Pucker, coconut rum, blue curacao and pomegranate syrup. Hmmm, could this be like a bomb pop in a glass?! Nope, it couldn't.

There's nothing here but your typical sour blue raspberry slush, albeit so thick you could make a snow ball out of it, floating on top of some extremely sweet red syrup that again, absolutely refuses to mix with the slush.

Open Tuesday - Saturday • 9pm - 2am

Designed after an old-fashioned swing dance club of the 40s, inside this massive dance hall you'll find a huge dance floor, three bars (though only one is usually open), ample seating on the first floor and an outdoor patio. The second floor is only open on the rare occasion or for special parties. A giant video screen over the dance floor shows the music video for the song playing. You'll find mostly Pop, Top 40, Rap and some old-school favorites being spun by the live DJ. The DJ takes requests, so go ahead and ask.

Review
The major downside to this dance club is the massive, expansive, and too brightly lit dance floor. Since the club usually only has a handful or two of people in it (and even fewer out on the dance floor), it feels like you are on display, dancing for everyone else to watch. I've seen more people dancing in the darker, more intimate seating areas than on the dance floor on some nights. The best chance for big crowds will be on a Saturday night after about 11pm. Go any earlier and the place will be all yours.

On the upside, admission is free so stop in and see what you think. 

PTTP has spent many a "I don't want to go home yet" nights here after a long day at Epcot. Now that this is the only place you can dance on Disney property (well, at least without looking like a weirdo), we are starting to see a slightly larger crowd on the weekends. Plus, by the time most people get here, it's after an afternoon of Drinking Around the World, so they don't care about the atmosphere and just want to dance! The more friends you can bring to have your own little group bustin' a move on the dance floor, the better.

Oh, and one more important thing: we highly recommend you stick with beer here and skip any mixed drinks. Trust us...unless you like paying $12 for a small glass of Coke. Plus, keep in mind that all drinks are significantly more expensive here than at the theme parks.

Located in the BoardWalk Resort, on the lobby level just past the elevators hides one of Disney's best lounges. Breakfast is served here in the mornings, but at 5pm, the drinks begin flowing and keep pouring until midnight at this old-fashioned lounge.

We have been told the lounge will be getting their own specialized drink menu focusing on old-fashioned cocktails that reflect the era of the hotel. As soon as the menu is posted we'll have it here.

Atmosphere
The 1940's boardwalk charm comes alive in the lounge. You'll feel like you're relaxing in your best friend's living room, as long as that best friend is filthy rich and loved the mid 1900's! You're welcome to enjoy your cocktail in one of the many comfy seats in the solarium or wander outside and enjoy your cocktail in true southern tradition, swapping stories and enjoying the warm Floridian night air on their large veranda, that's patio to you northerners out there. The beautiful warm wood, soft lighting and relaxed atmosphere is why this bar has won more than one Best of the Parks lists. Don't miss this classic Disney favorite on your next trip to the Boardwalk. Oh, and for you sport folks, you may want to head on down to that ol' ESPN club, this is the 1940's and them tele-visions ain't never gonna catch on with us.
 
 
 


Review
One of our favorite drinks anywhere used to be on the menu here way back in the day - "The Shadow" (pictured below). Fortunately, whenever we see our favorite bartenders Tim or Allen working, we know we can count on them for our Shadow fix. The good news is that Belle Vue is getting their own drink menu soon and The Shadow is making a return! They are now focusing on old-fashioned style drinks at the bar to match the atmosphere. Party Through The Parks welcomes the change to fewer frou-frou fresh fruit drinks and more traditional "scotch on the rocks" style imbibery at this classic southern bar. Although this new menu has been employee confirmed on multiple occassions, we've been waiting since early 2011. Spring 2012 update: it's not looking good for their own menu...or they're taking their time to get it just right. 
2013: So that specialty menu never panned out. Pity.

By popular demand we're including The Shadow drink recipe: 1 part Chambord, 1 part Godiva chocolate liqueur, 1 part Stoli Vanil vodka 2 parts heavy cream. Roll to combine and serve over ice.

Lunch & dinner served. There's a nice patio area out front but we're not much of an "outdoor eater", too many bugs, too much wind, too much sun, too cold etc.  Why go through all the trouble of building walls if we're not going to use them? We prefer to have an appetizer at the bar, or sit at one of the high-tops in the bar area as opposed to the dining room or the patio. Big fan of the Spinach Dip...and the Kobe Burger.

If neither of those sound good to you, eat somewhere else. The regular burgers are some of the worst we've ever had, worse than fast food. If low quality beef that's been shipped in from across the country sounds good to you, well then go ahead. Seriously, the bartender standing with the manager behind him had the nerve to tell us a burger cooked medium wouldn't have any pink in it because, "it's ground beef, not a steak." The manager advised the burgers are cooked to temperature, not color. Apparently the guy doesn't own a grill, eh? The only reason a burger cooked to 160 wouldn't be pink is because it's already browned due to freezer burn, and the flavor backed up that claim.

Atmosphere
The feel of a small-time brew bar makes for a nice atmosphere to wind down. The micro-brew equipment used to brew the beer served in the bar is on display and a couple of large flat-screen tv's make it a great alternative to the super-packed ESPN to catch your favorite game. The dining room area is like a whole different world - it's boring and bland and reminiscent of a hospital cafeteria - and usually chock-full of screaming kids. Whenever we get anything here it's at the bar, or a beer to go.

Review
The best value and fun for your money is the beer sampler. You get to try all 6 of their unique specialty brews. The flavors range from super-light "Bud-Light" style lager to a very dark and hoppy Guinness-style ale. If you like to think of yourself as a beer connoisseur you will love this, if you're just getting started on becoming a beer connoisseur then I can't think of a better way to expand your beer horizons and educate your palate - you might find out you like something you wouldn't have expected! Even if you don't think you can go 'hog-wild' and try a little glass of every different beer they've got, why not grab something safe and then split a sampler with your bud?
